The Ranches of Sonterra was completed in 1996.  It consists of 497 tracts of land, ranging from 5 to 25 acre parcels, developed in three phases.  Our owners, many of whom have come from different parts of the world, have discovered the beauty and tranquility with which The Ranches has become synonymous.  Spectacular Sierra Blanca and Capitan mountain views, and unsurpassed sunrises and sunsets are commonplace here in this master planned community located on the outskirts of Ruidoso, New Mexico.  Wildlife abounds, including elk, deer and mountain bluebirds. There are even occasional roadrunner, bobcat and cougar sightings.  The area is known for its temperate climate, with summer highs topping out around 82 degrees.  Winter days are sunshine filled and average 45-50 degrees.  Nearby is 12,003 foot Sierra Blanca Peak where Ski Apache is considered one of the finest facilities of its kind in the state.

 

Bluegreen Corporation, one of the largest land development companies in the United States, created The Ranches.  Deed restrictions are enforced to ensure property values are maintained and that the community keeps its pristine mountain charm.  The Ranches is supported by an active Property Owners Association, which ensures that important infrastructure issues are addressed.
